CRYSTAL CIERLAK is an American writer from California who finds it really difficult to write her own biography. So let's just get personal and stop the pretense that I am not the one writing this bit of info. At the current moment in time I am 33 years old and live in Bakersfield. When you read this I might have already turned 34 or maybe I've moved! Wouldn't that be great? I've lived in California my entire life but I'm definitely eager to explore other places. Preferably with rain. And an ocean. I don't like living too far from the ocean. I don't like swimming in the ocean, but I do love the smell. What I miss most about living along the Central Coast is that you can drive along the 101 and literally smell the ocean. That's probably why I write about that in nearly all of my books. We don't have the ocean in Bakersfield - that's where I currently live - but it's not a terribly long drive to get to the ocean.
I published my first book - ZOE THANATOS - on September 19, 2012. That day just so happened to also be my grandma's birthday. She just turned 80 this past September. Following Zoe I published for the first time I a series of stories - THE ROMANCE OF NICK AND LAYLA - that I had previously only published online. That was WALK AWAY SORRY, and WHITE FLAG. I then wrote three more of the next few years, adding DAMAGED, UNDONE, and HEARTLINES most recently. I've since dabbled in romantic erotica with THE BIDDEN SERIES starting with CANDIDATE FOUR and most recently publishing UNBIDDEN LOVE. I am currently writing the sixth book in that series - CONTESTED HEART.
I have also been working on a serial series called AWAKENING RIELLE that is about ten short novellas. And when I was taking a break between all of that I wrote FADING DUSK, which is sort of a spin-off from the BIDDEN universe.
When I'm not writing I am working full time from home for a wonderful company specializing in behavioral health software, and spending time with my husband Jeffrey, our cat Oliver, and our dog Winston. We're a perfectly happy little family. Jeffrey teaches at a local community college and is a legit scientific genius. His ability to do dishes and laundry is a bit lacking, but if you ever want to have a casual conversation about genetics, he's your guy.
Whenever possible I am reading (or thinking about reading). I also love going to museums, daydreaming about all the places I want to travel to, and imagining what the rest of my life is going to look like.
Writing books is the best therapy I have ever had in my life, and knowing people read my books is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. If I could personally thank each and every one of you who has purchased one of my books, I would.
